one of my favorite things in all of linguistics: the way that feedback from the bottom of this chart exerts influence on the top of this chart, so that we literally hear noises differently based on what we know about the high-level context. So if someone says “Blair is Push’s poodle” you may HEAR “Blair is Bush’s poodle” because you know shit about Blair and Bush and your ears don’t even bother telling your brain about that Push nonsense. Brains are crazy!
